2-time U23 Swiss Champions!

Arriving in Kreuzlingen this weekend, several people asked us why we even bothered to come. After all, this was supposed to be an “easy” win for us. We won two years ago (didn’t attend last year) and have been performing well in the Swiss Sailing Super League (Mens first-division)

On paper, this should have been straightforward.

In reality, it was anything but.

As is often the case on Lake Constance, we were greeted by extremely light and highly shifty winds, making the racing unpredictable and keeping the fleet close together. We were never really out of contention, but we were never clearly in control either. We scored a 2nd and a 3rd place, but never managed to put together a race-winning performance. We were consistent, but not dominant.

Fortunately, when it mattered most, we remembered who we are and delivered. In the end, we managed to take home the trophy.

To be honest, it felt much more like a “thank God we didn’t lose” moment than a “hell yeah, we won” moment. But sailing doesn’t always reward perfection. Sometimes it rewards resilience, and this weekend we’ll happily take that.
