3rd at Youth Sailing Championsleague!!

As you can probably tell from my facial expression, I’m not entirely pleased with this one 😅

For the third year in a row, we finished 3rd at the Youth Sailing Champions League Final. That has to be some sort of record…

Don’t get me wrong -standing on the podium at one of the most competitive youth sailing events in the world is still something to be proud of. But this time it really felt like there was more on the table.

We were in the fight throughout the event and had moments where we showed that we had both the speed and the consistency to challenge for the win. We were sitting in 2nd place going into the finals and, unfortunately, made some serious strategic mistakes while in the lead. That’s probably what makes this result a little bittersweet. When you’re close enough to dream about the top step, third place somehow feels different.

Still, three consecutive podium finishes is an achievement that we would have signed up for without hesitation a few years ago. Sometimes it’s important to take a step back and appreciate that.

We’ll take the bronze, learn from it, and come back hungry for more. After all, I still have two more years to win this one -or finish 3rd five times in a row 😉
